[It's likely a better environment than a coffee shop.]

I would, yes, if you'd not mind the company.

[Which she doesn't, obviously, but...]

Alright. I'll see you then.

[Though he'd recently moved near the woods, he'll not suggest Adrienne venture to his home. The elevator is a neutral space, and D'Artagnan isn't certain how this will go, mostly concerned with his own behaviour or reactions to things. He knows himself to be overdramatic at times, moreso in the past, but those traits have resurfaced in this city to a degree he doesn't particularly like, but finds himself unable to do much about at present. Twenty minutes later, he will be by the elevators as promised, two coffee cups in hand, though the contents may be tepid should the elevator be late. An effort was made regardless.]

You're welcome.

[It seems oddly formal and rote, but it's spoken gently and with a small smile that isn't entirely forced. He hands one of the coffee cups over with a shrug, though he's relatively certain he's heard her coffee order enough not to be too horribly mistaken with it.]

I hope it's to your liking... It is good to see you, Adrienne. I'm sorry I'd taken so long.

It's difficult to do.

[And something he couldn't push aside, had gone in the other direction with it, consumed and overwhelmed by the feelings it brought. He's not gone far past that even now, but he's not going to cry, so there's that.]

If you've anything to say, I'll listen. If you only wish to walk, that's alright.

[He ignores his own cup of coffee, just holding it awkwardly and starting in the direction of the forest.]

No.

[Fortunate as that was, it held him back from rebelling as he'd wanted to, having no idea what was going on outside of it and unwilling to risk those he's responsible for when he'd known not where they were, nor what they may be subjected to in retaliation.]

Neither of my contract partners were there. I've not spoken to them about it.

[He doesn't have that sort of friendship with Geralt, and though Daphne offered companionship, D'Artagnan spends little time with her as it is, and he knows she doesn't understand, still very naive and ignorant of the depths of what can be inflicted upon people as far as mental torment. He'd only end up yelling at her, and so he ignores her instead.]

[He can't hold back the soft discontented noise at the use of that word, as if anything were normal about this situation and where they are. It never will be.]

Daphne was arrested, she'd been in the Zoo for the week, for asking after her sister.

[Who'd been inside, along with her Submissive, and the latter hadn't come back out.]

And I was only telling you what happened in our absence.

[She brought it up, and perhaps he'd misinterpreted her comment, but he'll not apologise for it, especially after her next.]

I'd not accused you of such.

[Half rolling his eyes to himself and stifling a scoff, he stops and gestures with his coffee cup in the opposite direction than they'd started.]

Clearly, this isn't going to work, and I think you'll fare better on your walk by yourself. Enjoy your afternoon, Adrienne.

[He's leaving, only expecting more acerbic commentary the entire time, and he'll not place himself in a position to listen to it.]
