IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Adrienne Peters
Canon: Original Character
Canon Point: September 2020, during her trip to Switzerland
Age: 43
Background: link | Adrienne comes from a very normal-seeming Earth, it's what she'd always believed. There's an underside to this, a world of magic, of supernatural beings (vampires, shifters, fae creatures) that is kept very hidden from human knowledge. There are rules, and prices paid to magic lest it takes its toll out on you, and humans that find themselves knowing about the world are often in danger or can be contested over (depending on how they found out). If you do find out? Don't draw attention to it, don't leave a trail of it anyway. Humans won't believe you and anything magical will have you now on their radar.
Arrival Scenario: The Free Cities
Suitability: Whilst there will be several things that Adrienne will be very nope about regarding the environment (magic, beasts, danger, weirdness) her doctor and kind nature will win out. Adrienne won't want to know things but she won't shy away from people, helping them in a medical context and just slowly dealing with what happens. Being a doctor will get her involved in more things despite her reluctance and gradually as time goes on she'll learn more and ask more questions to try and keep up to help people better. The game will be a big growing point for her in dealing with information and how much she'll touch magic and knowledge, how she'll explore the surrounding areas and slot herself into danger to be able to provide medical support for others exploring.
Powers: None! Just a regular human
PERSONALITY QUESTIONS
Describe an important event in your character's life and how it impacted them.
The death of her parents changed Adrienne's life in more ways than she has ever realised. The quieter, athletic girl had her life changed overnight, moving states to live with her aunt and dealing with the grief (badly) when she was fifteen. Who she was changed, at first in small ways (quitting all of her hobbies rather than picking them up in a new place) and slowly becoming bolder and more secretive. Adrienne was never difficult but the risk-taking behaviours that really set in as an adult (after other losses) started manifesting through her grief. A lot of it then was explained by teenage behaviour and dealing with her parent's death, though it would really be the first signs of PTSD that became diagnosed years later.
Now, Adrienne still has a lot of risk-taking behaviours (that she's trying to temper), is still very secretive (she claims private) and is only just beginning to remind herself who she is at her core: her hobbies, what she enjoys and what she has to live for.
Does your character have a moral code, or other set of standards they try to live by?
Do no harm is the big ethical code that doctors live to, but it's something that Adrienne has always lived by in different ways. She's never been a cruel person, never been someone who has wanted to hurt another and has always felt terribly if someone has been hurt by her words or actions. As a doctor, that became bigger in her job and her nature as a healer. Adrienne will always try to help someone even if she isn't particularly fond of them. If it's a verbal help she might not be her most helpful but she wouldn't just leave someone.
What quality or qualities do they admire most?
Honesty and kindness. Whilst Adrienne has issues with honesty herself (personal-related, particularly trauma-related) she appreciates being able to have an honest conversation even if it isn't the lightest of topics. If she finds out that she's been lied to the range of how offended she is would be depending on the reasons for the lies, though even a good reason would have her a little off for a time. Given her own kind nature, she admires kindness in others, more pleasant herself to people who are kinder than ones who are cruel (where she'd be a little more blunt).
Do they have a part of themselves they dislike?
Adrienne would honestly say that she didn't like herself, though it's guilt and her perceived failures that lead her to say that. Adrienne's biggest regret is that she wasn't able to save her daughter, blaming herself and feeling as if she's at fault, carrying the guilt as well as grief. If she were ever asked to be more specific it would be the scar along her stomach, a reminder of the car accident she was in and the lowest mental point she'd been at in her life. It's the physical appearance of the scar that bothers her the most, trying to hide or divert attention from it when she's intimate with someone and typically keeping her stomach covered when she can otherwise.
What is their sign, and why? The Empress. Adrienne has a very caring nature to her, someone who looks after her friends and the people she cares about in her life but it also extends further. Trained as a doctor, Adrienne has a very kind and calming bedside manner, shown more when dealing with child patients (as her specialism with pediatric pathology).
